Facebook tests its first new reaction just for Mother’s Day

Turns out that floral decorations on Messenger aren’t all Facebook has in store for Mother’s Day. The company is now testing a new reaction just for the holiday, and once again, it includes flowers.

First spotted by Twitter user, a Facebook representative told us:

To celebrate Mother’s Day, we are testing the ability for people in a few markets to leave a flower reaction.

And that doesn’t include the US, apparently. Somewhat ironic, given some user’s around the world complained about the timing of Messenger’s Mother’s Day feature being biased towards the US.

Nice gestures aside, it’s worth noting this is the first time we’ve Facebook has branched out beyond the default 5 reactions. If it pans out, it means Facebook could expand reactions to other regional holidays and trends in the future.
